So it turns out I "Exceed Expectations"

Well, I could have told you that! Just had my anal review (yes, spelled correctly. It's a funnier word than annual). So, my boss loves me and I'm awesome and all that, but seriously, if I want to do something more than be an "administrative assistant" forever, this probably isn't the place to do it. My boss offered a few opportunities for me to pursue here but is also encouraging me to "spread my wings" and all that because she wants me to be successful. Sounds great and everything and if I wasn't planning on leaving Portland in a year and half I'd probably start looking for other stuff now. Probably a project manager or program coordinator position at another non-profit. I've definitely decided (especially with crap economy) that I want to stay in non-profit. I hate money so much. Don't get me wrong, it's nice to have and all because it buys you stuff...like happiness, but overall, it makes you crazy. I'd rather feel like I'm contributing something. Plus, i don't want to have to wear suits. I hate the corporate look. But i wonder if that's going to limit me when i move. I'll have an awesome resume at that point but who knows what the job market will be like then. So, anyway, that's my day. I decided after being told what am an awesome employee I am that I should goof off and blog to you guys. I don't think there's anything wrong with that, do you?
So, in other news - Matt and I are meeting with the reception people this Friday after work. We're trying some wines that we selected and also some cake samples. They have this stuff called Beerimisu that sounds awesome (don't worry Strawberry, we'll get something else for Meggie). I think we may have decided to go with beer and wine only for the 3-hour open bar. With the exception of 2, maybe 3 people, I think everyone will be OK with beer or wine. I feel a little cheap doing it but Mommy said it was OK, so there :) If you guys have strong feelings the other way, let me know so we can maybe reconsider. Ummm...we're also starting to work on the playlist for our wedding. It's gonna be such an awesome soundtrack. I'm really glad we decided to do it that way. We're also going to be meeting the ceremony musicians soon to select music. I think I'll leave that final decision to Matt since the accordionist was his idea. I think that's the latest wedding stuff i have right now.
I really miss you guys and look forward, more and more, to moving back. Just keep thinking good thoughts that the economy will be back on track by then.
Oh yeah - and I think I'm going to be Mary Falls-Staley. Don't worry...the kids (if we have any) will be just Staley. I just couldn't get on board with losing the Falls in my name. Oh yeah - and I really think Matt believes that there is a wedding leprechaun to do all the planning and organizing. He really doesn't understand why I'm working on stuff now when the wedding isn't until August. I love him dearly but sometime he drives me nutso!

Congratulations, Mary!! It feels good to be recognized at work!

Beer and wine are FINE! Please don't fret about trying to please everyone!

I just realized I've used 5 exclamation points! Now 6! Aahh! I can't stop!

Ok, so I had to do that ... anyways, Mars, congrats on exceeding expectations... you've always exceeded my expectations. No, seriously.
I would prefer some hard liquor. So you better get it for me.

Well, even though I'm sure your expectations of me have been pretty low, I'll still take that as a compliment :)

Hey! Remember me!?! Anyway, You know...you're title immediately reminded me of O.W.L.'s :-) hehe, one track mind! So, seriously, don't worry about what other people want to drink. Just remember it's YOUR day. And, congrats on the E.E. We all knew that already, but apparently your coworkers are a little slow. :-) Beat you all with 2 smile icons, so HA!
